Veronica Makwinja Morara
I am a dedicated mother to my 11year old twins who will be turning 12 on the 5th March 2014. I hold a Doctorate in Educational Administration, Policy and Planning from Ohio University; Masters’ Degree in Educational Leadership from Syracuse University; a Bachelors Degree and a Diploma in Secondary Education from the University of Botswana. I was awarded a certificate of excellence by the Ohio University in Athens, as the outstanding student in educational administration.
I am presently a Senior Consultant at the Institute of Development Management (IDM) with responsibilities in consulting, researching and training. I taught in Botswana rural and urban secondary schools for 10 years, as a teacher and later administrator; lectured for 17 years at the University of Botswana; practiced as a private consultant for 2 years before joining IDM.
During my teaching at the University of Botswana I taught Education Psychology to pre-service and in-service teachers. My job with the university entailed coordinating the teacher training programmes within the Faculty of Education, liaising between the University, the Ministry of Education and secondary schools. This position required patience, commitment and good communication skills to enable the university develop rapport with schools in the country to allow for easy access for both student teachers and researchers.
I have participated in a research project between the University of Botswana and University of Pennsylvania on issues concerning adolescents and HIV and AIDS risk behaviour. I partly participated in the Gender and HIV and AIDS Mainstreaming project with the Ministry of Lands in collaboration with UNDP. I am currently teaching leadership and management courses including the following: HRM in education; Philosophy of Education; policy and planning; Research in Education.
