Samina Hadi-Tabassum, Ed.D.
Samina Hadi-Tabassum, Ed.D., is an Associate Professor at Dominican University located in River Forest, Illinois. She is also the Director of the Bilingual and ESL Program and works closely with first-year Spanish bilingual teachers in the Chicago Public Schools. Her teaching career began in 1993 when she was recruited by Teach for America to teach in Houston as a middle school bilingual teacher. After 10 years in the K-8 classroom, she obtained a doctorate from Teachers College, Columbia University in Curriculum Studies. Her first book publication, Language, Space and Power, focuses on dual language education. In 2014, she will release a second book publication on the topic of majority minority schools.
