Biography

Larry J. Walker is currently a Research Fellow in the School of Graduate Studies and Doctoral Candidate at Morgan State University in the Urban Educational Leadership program.

He was selected as a Congressional Fellow with the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation (CBCF) and worked as the Legislative Assistant and Legislative Director for former Congressman Major R. Owens (11th CD, NY). During his tenure with Congressman Owens he worked on legislation including the No Child Left Behind Act, Education Sciences Reform Act and amendments to the Higher Education Act. Mr. Walker is a former Howard University Trustee scholar and Legislative Fellow with the Pennsylvania House of Representatives Bipartisan Management Committee. He has nine years of experience working in K-16 settings and is a member of the American Educational Research Association (AERA). Mr. Walker’s research interests include: examining how trauma impacts academic performance (P-20), federal and state education policies and creating safe environments for LGBTQ students (P-20). Mr. Walker received his B.S. from Cheyney University and his M.Ed. from Howard University.
