Joanna Dávila, PhD
Dr. Joanna Dávila was born in Humacao, Puerto Rico. She studied her Bachelor’s Degree in Arts and majored in Hispanic Studies at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras. Afterwards, she pursued a Master’s Degree in Spanish Education. She moved to California in 1998 and completed a Master’s Degree in Spanish Language and Literature at San Jose State University. In 2004, she was accepted at the University of California, Los Angeles as a doctoral student in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese. In 2008, she decided to move to New York City to do research at New York University and Columbia University. There, she actively participated with community and became a leader of Las Buenas Amigas. In 2012, Mrs. Joanna Dávila obtained a Full Time Faculty position at the Ana G. Méndez University System’s Capital Area Campus in Maryland. She obtained her Doctoral Degree in June of 2013. Mrs. Dávila resides in Laurel, Maryland with her family.
